Summer Day Camp Counselors
Closes: Until filled : Major Duties Include: These temporary positions are for the Weeks and Smith-Hazel Activities Centers. Duties include: supervising children 5-12 years of age, planning daily activities indoors and outdoors including, but not limited to, arts, crafts, games and sports, swimming, chaperoning weekly field trips, and interacting with children during all hours of camp. Qualifications: Experience in childcare preferred. Applicants must be 18 years old and able to obtain Red Cross First Aid and CPR/AED certification, as well as pass a defensive driving course provided by the City of Aiken. Salary is $8.92 hourly with no benefits. Hours are mainly Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. with the possibility of some evenings and weekends. Major duties include: Under the supervision of the Planning Director, the Planner will provide staff support to the Planning Commission, Design Review Board, and/or Board of Zoning appeals in pursuit of the goals of the City of Aiken’s Comprehensive Plan. The position will be responsible for working with applicants, citizens and stakeholders regarding planning issues and applications, preparation of staff reports, public notices and other related planning documents, and associated record-keeping. The Planner may assist the Planning Director in the areas of annexation, historic preservation, public outreach, subdivision, site plan review, policy development, public outreach and other related planning functions. The position requires excellent analytical ability, written and oral communication skills, interpersonal skills, and the ability to deal with multiple complex issues. Qualifications: A Bachelor’s degree in Planning, Public Administration, Business Administration, Real Estate or related field. One to three years of relevant planning experience, or any equivalent combination of education and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
