Summer Day Camp Counselor (Temporary)
Closes: Until filled : These temporary positions are for the H. Odell Weeks and Smith-Hazel Recreation Centers. Major Duties Include: supervising children 4-12 years of age, planning daily activities indoors and outdoors including, but not limited to: arts, crafts, games, sports, swimming, and chaperoning weekly field trips, as well as interacting with children during all hours of camp. Qualifications: experience in childcare preferred. Applicants must be a minimum of 18 years old, have a valid driver's license, and be able to obtain an American Red Cross CPR/First Aid/AED Certification, as well as pass a defensive driving course provided by the City of Aiken. Salary is $9.14 hourly with no benefits. Hours are mainly Monday through Friday 7:00 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. with the possibility of some evenings and weekends. Maximum of 40 hours weekly. Major Duties Include: perform duties related to the Aiken County Farmers Market and the Aiken Visitors Center and Train Museum. Market duties are assisting with assignment of tables and collection of rent, enforcing market rules, site inspections of farms, and involvement in the operations of the SNAP and Healthy Bucks programs. Visitor Center duties include greeting and assisting guests, answering calls, track visitors, complete surveys and record results, sell tour tickets, assist with rentals, and opening and closing of the facility. Other duties include reporting and handling maintenance issues, including cleaning the facility, and assisting other divisions within the department. Qualifications: Excellent customer service and communication skills a must. Applicant must be a minimum of 18 years or older. Salary is $9.30 hourly with no benefits. Market hours are Saturday 6 AM – 2 PM, Tuesday & Thursday 8 AM - 12 Noon. Coverage of Visitor Center and special events will vary. Approximately 20-25 hours per week total.
