Life Guard
Closes: Until filled : Major Duties Include: These temporary, part-time positions will be responsible for lifeguarding at the City's pool. This position requires being available seven days a week. Qualifications: Applicants must have current American Red Cross Lifeguarding Certification and must be First Aid and CPRPR/AED certified (provide copies of current cards with application). Major duties include: assists in the planning, directing, coordinating and supervising the provision of comprehensive athletic programs; supervise personnel and operations of the Athletics Division; prepares annual operating and capital budgets and other reports and documents appropriate to the division; evaluates existing programs and identifies present and future needs; prepares specifications and bids for construction projects and assists with management of construction projects within the Athletics Division; assists in preparing grant applications for federal and state funds for projects; develops and maintains cooperative relationships with other City departments, outside agencies and professional organizations, vendors, and general public; meets with public to respond to questions and resolve problems; other related duties. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Recreation or related field from an accredited college or university. Licenses and Certifications: Must obtain First Aid, CPR, AED & DDC-8 within 6 months of employment. Valid State Issued Driver’s license in good standing. NRPA certification preferred. Maintenance Worker III, Parks Division

Major duties include: serving as a lead worker for crews that perform various maintenance duties to keep the City clean, safe, and attractive; plans, schedules and assigns work; instructs and trains new employees in correct methods and procedures and safe operation of equipment; inspects and monitors work in progress to ensure timely completion of work; maintains grounds; mixes chemicals and sprays weeds with pesticides; performs concrete and carpentry work as needed; and sets up facilities for athletic and recreation programs. Major duties include: Maintaining grounds; mows grass; trims shrubs and hedges; waters and fertilizes lawns; mixes chemicals and sprays weeds with pesticides; operates weed-eater; places pine straw around flower beds and shrubs; rakes leaves. Sets up tables, bleachers, stages, portable fence panels and chairs for events. Prepares, works, and breaks down facilities and places back to normal condition when events are over. Maintain all athletic playing fields; rolls, rakes, brushes tennis courts; applies fertilizer to grass area of city athletic facilities; maintain lighting and water system at city recreation facilities; installs fence panels at events for safety and security. Interpersonal skills necessary to be courteous of fellow employees, citizens, and businesses while performing repair and maintenance duties. Ability to perform strenuous, heavy work involving lifting and carrying heavy objects; also continued walking, stooping, and standing. Frequent exposure of up to 80% of work time to dirt, dust, extremes of temperature, and noxious fumes and odors. Qualifications: Ability to read and write, to understand and follow verbal instructions, and to perform manual labor; including one year experience related to assigned duties of position or any equivalent combination of education and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. One to two years maintenance or construction experience and performing manual labor or any combination of education and experience which produces the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
